Danish Christmas Trees
COLLET has specialised in producing Nordmann firs, named after the Finnish botanist Nordmann who discovered the previously unknown tree in the Georgian mountains of Caucasus. Today it is the most widely used Christmas tree in Europe, and many consider it to be the most beautiful.
The most beautiful Nordmann firs come from Denmark, where the mild coastal climate and cool light summers provide ideal growing conditions. It was also in Denmark that the cultivation of this species as a Christmas tree started 50 years ago. The species has since gained popularity in many homes across the world.
The Nordmann fir is characterised by its beautiful dark-green colour and long, soft needles. It is highly symmetrical, with full shoots and pleasing contours. A Nordmann fir stays fresh for a long time and is known for its good needle retention.
